Sometimes people use the words detox and treatment interchangeably, but detox is really just one of the first stages of the full continuum of care for substance abuse treatment. Some rehab programs have detox units within their facilities to provide the service in-house, while other times people will go to one place for their initial detoxification and then continue their treatment at another program for either residential or outpatient treatment.
